Tropical Tingle

February 22, 2023 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Here’s a play on a tropical fizz:

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz sparkling water
  • 1 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1 oz elderflower syrup
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

Fill a shaker with ice. Add the pineapple juice, orange juice, elderflower syrup, and cinnamon to the shaker. Shake well to mix. Strain the mixture into a highball glass filled with ice and top with your sparkling water. Stir gently and serve.

Garnish with a sprig of mint or slice of orange, if you’d like.

To change it up a bit, try different flavors of sparkling water. For example, substitute Passionfruit LaCroix or Pineapple Bubly.

The pineapple juice provides a sweet, tropical flavor, the sparkling water adds a light effervescence, the orange juice provides a bright and tangy flavor, and the elderflower syrup contributes a floral sweetness. The cinnamon provides a warming, spicy sensation that adds depth and complexity to the drink. Give it a try!

the Peter Piper

Taken straight from the amazing mixologists at the Nomad Bar (with their permission), this is a refreshing, delicious cocktail that is a favorite among our employees. We make a point to grab one whenever we’re in town–drinking or not. It’s flavorful, unexpected, and delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lime wedges, plus lime juice as needed
  • 10 dashes Lucini White Balsamic Vinegar
  • 1/2 – 3/4 oz Tellicherry Black Pepper Syrup (recipe below)
  • 3/4 oz passionfruit nectar
  • 3/4 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 1/2 oz Seagram’s club soda
  • Pineapple fronds and/or pineapple slice, for garnish

Instructions:

Squeeze the lime wedges into a jigger and then fill the jigger with lime juice until you reach 1/2 oz. In a cocktail shaker, combine the lime juice, lime rinds, and remaining ingredients except the garnish. Fill a highball glass with crushed ice. Add a few ice cubes to the shaker, cover, and shake vigorously, essentially whipping the ingredients. Strain the mixture into the glass, topping with the club soda, some additional crushed ice and your garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy!

the Noble Hyena

February 22, 2023 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Another staff favorite, this is a great option for anyone looking for a drink that’s a bit more complex and interesting. It’s bright and refreshing, with a nice balance between sweet, sour, and bitter notes.

Ingredients:

  • 2 strawberries
  • 1/4 oz simple syrup (recipe below)
  • 1/2 oz vanilla syrup (recipe below)
  • 1/2 shot espresso (about 1/2 – 3/4 oz)
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz tonic water (preferably Fever Tree)
  • Ice

Instructions:

In a cocktail shaker, muddle one of the strawberries in the syrup. Add the remaining ingredients except the tonic water and garnish. Fill the shaker with ice, cover, and shake well. Fill your highball glass with ice and add the tonic water. Strain the cocktail into the glass. Garnish with a strawberry and serve.

This cocktail has a sweet, fruity taste with a tart citrus kick from the lemon and grapefruit juice. The pineapple juice provides a slightly tropical note, while the shot of espresso adds a rich and bold flavor with a caffeine boost. The tonic water contributes a slight bitterness to the drink, which is balanced out by the sweetness from the simple and vanilla syrups.

Mai Tai

February 22, 2023 by Gabe Leave a Comment

A Mai Tai is a classic cocktail made with rum, orange liqueur, lime juice, and almond syrup. To create a non-alcoholic version, try this recipe:

  • Splash soda (if desired)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

Fill a shaker with ice. Add the orange juice, pineapple juice, lime juice, orgeat, and grenadine to the shaker. Shake well to mix. Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with ice. Stir gently and serve.

In this non-alcoholic Mai Tai, the orange juice provides a citrusy flavor, the pineapple juice contributes a tropical sweetness, the lime juice provides tartness, the orgeat adds a floral nuttiness, and the grenadine provides a little sweetness and color. the Cheeky Deacons

February 21, 2023 by Gabe Leave a Comment

The Cheeky Deacons were motivated by our desire to showcase a combination of flavors that would evoke a sense of tropical warmth and exotic luxury, using ingredients that would provide both a sweet and fruity flavor profile, as well as a creamy and smooth mouthfeel.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz turmeric syrup (recipe below)
  • 1 oz mango puree
  • 1 oz coconut cream
  • 1 oz orange juice
  • Dash of black pepper
  • Edible golden glitter

Instructions:

Fill two shot glasses with equal portions of the turmeric syrup and mango puree, creating two separate layers. Carefully pour the coconut cream on top of the mango puree, being careful not to disturb the other layers. Slowly pour the orange juice on top of the coconut cream, creating a swirl effect. Sprinkle a dash of black pepper on top of each shot. Finish by adding a pinch of edible golden glitter on top of each shot for added sparkle and elegance.

Inspired by the exotic flavors of tropical fruits and spices, this recipe combines the bright and sunny flavor of orange juice with the sweet and creamy flavor of coconut cream and mango puree. The turmeric syrup adds a touch of earthiness and warmth to the shot, while the black pepper adds a touch of heat and depth to the flavor profile.
