Pomegranate Mule

February 22, 2023 by Gabe Leave a Comment

Inspired by the classic Moscow Mule, a popular cocktail that is typically made with vodka, ginger beer, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice; this NA cocktail has a sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy flavor, with a touch of warmth from the nutmeg.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz pomegranate juice
  • 2 oz ginger beer (preferably Fever Tree)
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1 oz agave syrup (recipe below)
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

Fill a shaker with ice. Add the pomegranate juice, lemon juice, agave syrup, and nutmeg to the shaker. Shake well to mix. Strain the mixture into a glass filled with ice, and top with ginger beer.

The pomegranate juice provides a sweet, fruity flavor, the ginger beer adds a spicy, effervescent quality, the lemon juice provides a bright, tangy flavor, and the agave syrup contributes a sweet, natural flavor. The nutmeg adds depth and complexity (and a little heat) to the drink.

Cranberry Kicker

February 21, 2023 by Gabe Leave a Comment

This is a refreshing play on a ginger mule.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz cranberry juice
  • 2 oz ginger beer (preferably Fever Tree)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz simple syrup (recipe below)
  • A pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

Fill a shaker with ice. Add the cranberry juice, lime juice, simple syrup, and cayenne pepper to the shaker. Shake well to mix. Strain the mixture into your highball glass filled with ice, and top with ginger beer. Stir gently and serve.

This cocktail has a sweet, tangy, and spicy flavor, with a touch of heat from the cayenne pepper. The cranberry juice provides a sweet, tart flavor, the ginger beer contributes a spicy kick, the lime juice provides tartness, and the simple syrup adds sweetness. The cayenne pepper will provide a warming sensation that mimics the heat of alcohol. Give it a try!
