Canyon Counseling’s outpatient programs are designed for people who need time to learn new behaviors and practice relapse prevention skills. Clients learn how their drug and alcohol use has been used to cope with stress and other life problems. New, more effective solutions are developed while in treatment. The results are that family and work life, and free time with friends, are better than they may have been in years.
Substance abuse takes a toll on family and friends. Canyon Counseling encourages participation by family members and other loved ones in the treatment process. Support includes education and counseling that assists families to better understand substance abuse and recovery. We have learned over the years that family involvement has an extremely positive influence on their loved one’s recovery.
Canyon Counseling’s outpatient programs are primary treatment programs recommended after a comprehensive clinical assessment, and for those not in need of medically supervised detox. Our programs can enable people who have successfully completed detox to continue therapy on a schedule designed to accommodate work and family life.
With our outpatient programs, you live at home, attend work or school and begin establishing a foundation for long term recovery support right in the community. Canyon Counseling offers two levels of outpatient treatment for substance abuse:
- Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) which meets 3 days each week for 2-4 hours each session, and
- Regular Outpatient Treatment (OP) which meets less frequently and may or may not include all of the components of IOP.
Admission to either program includes a thorough intake assessment to determine the best course of action.
Upon entering treatment, you will be assigned a treatment team. The team will work with you to create a treatment plan based on your intake assessment and your individual needs.
Canyon Counseling’s outpatient treatment combines education, individual, group and family therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment process. Typically, treatment lasts from 5-15 weeks dependent upon your needs.
Relapse Prevention is for individuals who have completed treatment. It reinforces recovery plans and monitors post treatment progress helping the client maintain positive changes and intervene early on any potential relapse behavior. Relapse Prevention groups meet one time each week for up to one year and may include individual counseling as an adjunct service.
Also included in our outpatient programs portfolio is a resiliency training curriculum for Veterans and other Service Members, active duty or prior service completed, and their family members. Families OverComing Under Stress (FOCUS) teaches practical skills to help people overcome common challenges related to a loved one’s military service. Communication, problem-solving and goal setting are key ingredients of FOCUS. This prevention program is free of charge to military members and their families.
