Intensive Outpatient Program
The Intensive Outpatient Program (“IOP”) is designed for youth who need more time to learn new behaviors, participate in groups, and practice relapse prevention. They live at home and attend school, but spend a minimum of 9 hours weekly at the Red Mountain Center in Glenwood Springs. Out-of-school activities, part-time work, or just “hanging out” are limited for teens in IOP. Youth identify how drugs and alcohol were used to cope with life's problems and that using drugs and alcohol to cope with or solve problems does not work. Then counselors help them to develop new, more effective problem-solving strategies. The results are that family life, out-of-school activities, and free time with friends are better than they may have been for years.

Enhanced Outpatient Program
“EOP” is designed for teens who are in need of treatment for alcohol and/or drug abuse that has not progressed to the extent where it requires more intensive care. The emphasis is placed on education for continued recovery and refining long-term recovery plans. Counselors assist the adolescent to recognize and acknowledge the existence of destructive behaviors and mental health issues in their lives and the impact they have on their family, friends, and future.

Aftercare
The Aftercare Program is for teens who have completed their treatment. It reinforces recovery plans and monitors post treatment progress, helping the adolescent maintain changes in problematic attitudes and behaviors that may stimulate a relapse. It teaches the adolescent to seek out and actively become involved in healthy activities and peer groups.

Family
Often an alcohol or drug problem not only takes a toll on the life of the teenager, but also impacts the lives of the family and people who surround them. We believe that families and significant others are crucial to the recovery process. As a result, Red Mountain encourages the participation and involvement of all family members and loved ones in our programs. We have established a Family Workshop that consists of educations sessions, multi-family group, and individual therapy sessions that assists families in better understanding the process of substance abuse and recovery. The Workshop is a mandatory component. Parents are expected to participate. The Workshop group meets weekly. Individual family sessions are scheduled when convenient for the family and therapist. The goals of the Workshop include strengthening parental leadership, clarifying boundaries, enhancing coping skills, and freeing family members from their entrenched positions within the family structure. We have learned over the years that family involvement has an extremely positive influence on their young person’s recovery. Red Mountain also assists with the referral of parents or siblings to their own treatment.

School Achievement
Red Mountain monitors academic progress for teens having a difficult time keeping up in school. This program does not replace school. It is a personalized approach to learning, based on communication with classroom teachers in the teen’s own school. Students become active learners again who see success for themselves at school.

Vocational and Career Planning
Red Mountain provides assessment of client vocational and career interests and advises youth on job training and college goals.
